Italian Grandeur on Velvet Soles

When it comes to timeless elegance, Italy still reigns supreme - true style is still to be found in the birthplace of the espresso ritual and fashionable footwear.

At LOUÏKKA, we pay homage to an example of this effortless and uncomplicated finezza: The Friulane. From the streets of Italy to Hollywood, these velvet slippers have experienced a chic revival.

Originally, Friulian women in the 19th century made shoes from old bicycle tires and theater curtains. The Venetians adopted the unique style of the slipper and made it a symbol of sophistication. For LOUÏKKA, the velvet shoes are still hand-sewn today by a small family business in Friuli.
